Worship while our buildings were closed in 2020 - and when they've reopened in 2021
but not everyone is happy to come

This is an archive copy of everything we put together during  the time our buildings were closed because of COVID-19.

We were instructed on Tuesday 17 March 2020 that public worship suspended until further notice, and on Monday 24 March that all church buildings are to remain closed. Peter the Vicar will continue to say Morning and Evening Prayer at home, and will have less of an excuse that he is "too busy". Please pray for us, as we pray for you. Peter is putting something on facebook every day.

The Church of England has issued this material which you can use for Morning and Evening Prayer at home. We have distributed it with the April church magazines, and encourage you to use it.

The Church of England website has links to various Worship feeds and digital resources. You can find Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and Compline at https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-and-worship/join-us-service-daily-prayer and download the free Daily Prayer App for smartphones.

There is a Hymn for every day and a simple Sunday Service at the RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) site - https://www.rscm.org.uk/our-resources/hftd/

St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Suffolk are live-streaming morning and evening prayer, and putting a different piece of organ music

on Youtube every day - https://stedscathedral.org/worship/

Durham Cathedral have filmed lots of Service  - https://www.durhamcathedral.co.uk/

Sunday Worship is at 8.10 am on FM. If you have a digital radio (DAB) you should be able to get both. BBC Radio 3 also broadcasts a service of Choral Evensong from different cathedrals and churches around the country at 3.30 pm every Wednesday, repeated at 3.00 pm the following Sunday.

Geoff Howell took this wonderful photo of St Matthew's and an Easter Candle. Peter took less good photos of the Easter Candle at St Edmund's and beside the Yew tree. (I was coping with a candle that wouldn't stand upright and a wind that kept blowing the flame out). I  wanted a photo of the candle alight beside the tree - after all, the tree was been here before the church - but didn't want to be the Vicar who burned down the Allestree Yew).
