Sunday 22 May, 2.30 pm in the Fellowship Room at St Matthew’s, we will have a Craft Afternoon and make some “Jubilee themed materials”. We will have some refreshments, and end with a short service preparing for Her Majesty’s Jubilee. We’ll aim for about an hour – an afternoon for children and parents (we must have at least one adult per family). If you would like to come, it would be really helpful to know in advance – can you email us please, and tell us the ages of your children.
Both churches will be open on Thursday 2, Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June. St Matthew’s has a display of huge Jubilee birds, with every child from both Walter Evans and Old Vicarage School involved in their making. At St Eds we will have flowers and memorabilia. No doubt we will find space for children’s creations as well. I hope you will come and visit. There are services in both churches at 10 am on the Sunday – Julie is at St Eds, Peter is at St Matts. You would, of course, be very welcome.
On Father’s day, Sunday 19 June, there is a Green Afternoon at St Matthew’s. Speakers, displays, Eco groups from Walter Evans and the University, an opportunity to hunt the hedgehogs. Derby City Council and different colour bins, clothing upcycling, Refill on the run, etc. We’ll have some children’s quiz sheets and activities available, and hope to see some of you there.
On Sunday 24 July, you are invited to the Vicarage for an afternoon picnic – from 2.30 pm. Peter is 60 a fortnight later, so you can all come along and help him get used to being old.
